The honeys of Reunion are products of excellence, regularly awarded at international gastronomic shows.
Reunion Island offers bees a beautiful variety of exotic nectars all year long. Originally from China, the letchi was introduced to Reunion in 1764. It calls for a hot and humid climate, a rich and drained soil.
With its impressive stature, the trunk of this beautiful fruit tree can reach two meters in diameter. The flowers, small and greenish white, are rich in nectar. They are barely noticeable but they attract bees. Pollinated, they give beautiful red fruits in clusters.
In Reunion, lychee is traditionally associated with Christmas.
